Exciting News: LucentHost is now an official Multi-Member LLC! Thank you for growing with us. Read it
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. Written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
We have written this privacy statement to demonstrate our commitment to you, our customer, through transparent and readable information about our data practices. You will understand what we collect, why we collect it and what we do with it.
This policy applies to all LucentHost brands, websites, apps, products, services and technologies, which we refer to collectively as Services. Additional privacy practices for particular Services can be found in the details published for those Services.
At an account level, we collect and use the information necessary to let you purchase and manage Services, to support those Services, and to shape your experience with us. Some of this is collected on the basis of contractual consent, and some on informed consent, which you may change at any time.
Our site uses forms in which you give us contact information, such as your name, address, phone number, billing information, IP address and email address, so that you can create an account, place orders, register domains, request information and request support. As you use your account, we may also collect support requests and other information specific to managing your account and Services.
This type of information is legally or contractually required in order to purchase and use Services. For example, we must be able to verify it on request from our payment processor, and it is required in order to serve legal notices to you.
Some Services require it specifically. If you are purchasing a domain from us, we are required by law to collect and retain this information, to verify that what you have provided is accurate, and to serve legally required notices regarding your domains. Consent for the collection, use and retention of this information for these purposes is considered contractually given for the duration of your use of that Service and any legally required retention period.
We use email to communicate with you, to confirm orders you have placed, to send information you have requested, and to serve legally or contractually required communications. These include ICANN-mandated verification emails, renewal notices, and anything else required by ICANN policy governing domain purchases. We may also be required by law to serve notices such as DMCA takedown notices or UDRP notices. Where we consider a change to one of our policies to be material, we may also determine a duty to inform you of it. These communications are not covered by any opt-out.
We may contact you about functionality changes to Services you have purchased or to our website, and to provide customer service. By creating an account or purchasing Services, you agree to receive these service communications and acknowledge that they are not optional.
We also use this information to share details of new services and special offers we think you will find valuable. You can opt out of these promotional communications — or opt in, depending on your country of residence — through the preferences in your account panel or the unsubscribe instructions in the email itself.
We will never share your information without your permission, or in ways other than those set out in this policy. The only exceptions are where we are required by law, where we hold a good faith belief that action is necessary to comply with the law, or where we must comply with a legal process. Examples include court orders, subpoenas and UDRP or URS processes. In each case we review the documentation provided carefully and comply only if it meets the requisite legal standard.
When your LucentHost account is cancelled, whether by you or by us, your personally identifiable information is placed in a deactivated status in our databases.
Deactivation does not mean the information has been deleted entirely. We retain and use personally identifiable information where necessary to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or comply with laws and regulations. It may therefore not be deleted immediately on request, which is a recognised exception to deletion rights under the GDPR and CCPA. By creating an account, using our support services or purchasing Services, you acknowledge and agree to these retention terms.
We collect information from your devices, such as IP address and cookie information, so that we can recognise them in order to provide legal notices where your country of residence requires them, provide support when you contact us, and personalise your experience on our site and in our emails. Some of this collection is optional and can be controlled through our cookie tools.
We use information gathered from site statistics via log files, including your IP address, to diagnose problems with our servers and administer the website. We also gather broad demographic information from this data to improve the site. This is not linked to any personally identifiable information.
Our site uses cookies to keep track of your session information, and we do link information stored in cookies to personally identifiable information you submit while on our site.
We use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your device for a longer period, and can be removed by following the instructions in your browser's help documentation. We also use cookies to store your username if you ask to be remembered at login, so the login form can be pre-filled later. If you reached our website through an advertisement or a partner, we store that referral information in a cookie.
The use of cookies by our partners, affiliates and service providers is not covered by this statement. We have no access to or control over those cookies.
If you are in a country subject to the GDPR, your cookie preference panel contains additional instructions for opting in and out. The panel becomes accessible once you have responded to the cookie policy notice. By continuing to use and navigate our sites, services, applications and tools, you agree to our use of cookies as described here.
Our third-party tracking provider uses clear gifs, also known as web beacons. These are very small graphics with unique identifiers, similar in function to cookies, used to track movement across web pages and tell us which content is effective. Unlike cookies, they are embedded invisibly in the page rather than stored on your device. The information they gather is not tied to our customers' personally identifiable information.
From time to time we request information through surveys or contests. Participation is entirely voluntary. Information requested may include contact details and demographic information. Contact information is used to notify winners and award prizes. Survey information is used to monitor and improve satisfaction with the site, and for any other purpose we disclose explicitly in the rules.
We post customer testimonials which may contain personally identifiable information. We obtain the customer's consent by email before posting their name alongside their testimonial. To request removal of your testimonial, contact us at support@lucenthost.com.
Our website offers a publicly accessible blog. Anything you post there may be read, collected and used by others. To request removal of your personal information from the blog, contact support@lucenthost.com. In some cases we may not be able to remove it, and we will tell you if that is the case and why.
Our site contains links to third-party websites, particularly where we offer their products or services. LucentHost is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, and we encourage you to read the privacy statement of any site you visit.
LucentHost shares information within its affiliated brands and companies, and for the purposes described in this policy, including providing Services you have requested. We do not share information that individually identifies you with companies, organisations or individuals outside LucentHost unless one of the following applies.
We share information outside LucentHost when we have your consent. This includes third-party providers offering products or services through our marketplace, each of which has its own privacy policy.
Information may be shared internally in order to support and deliver the Services you purchase.
We may share aggregated or pseudonymous information, including demographic information, with partners such as measurement and analytics providers. We do not share information that personally identifies you, such as your name or email address. When you use third-party apps or websites integrated with our Services, they may collect information about your activity under their own terms and privacy policies.
We may access, preserve and disclose information to investigate, prevent or take action in connection with: legal process and legal requests; enforcement of our terms of service; claims that content violates the rights of third parties; requests for customer service; technical issues; protecting the rights, property or personal safety of LucentHost, our users or the public; establishing or exercising our legal rights or defending against legal claims; or as otherwise required by law. This may include responding to lawful government requests.
If ownership or control of all or part of LucentHost, or of a specific Service, changes as a result of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, we may transfer your information to the new owner.
Our site has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of information under our control. Transmissions containing payment details or personal data are encrypted in transit using TLS.
No method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our Services are intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect, use or share information that could reasonably be used to identify children under the age of 18 without prior parental consent, or otherwise than as permitted by applicable law.
When you use or interact with any of our Services, you consent to the processing, sharing, transfer and use of your information as set out in this policy and in our data processing terms.
Regardless of the country in which you reside, you acknowledge that you are transferring your data to our servers and agree to its processing there. You also authorise us to transfer, process, store and use your information in countries other than your own in accordance with this policy and in order to provide you with Services. Some of those countries may not offer the same data protection safeguards as the country where you live. By using our Services, you consent to those transfers.
If we change our information-handling practices or other privacy aspects, we will post those changes here. Where changes are material, we will give you notice on this site before they take effect, and we may also notify you by email.
We may update this policy from time to time, so please check it periodically.
Questions about this policy, or about the personal information we hold, should go to support@lucenthost.com. If you have an account with us, opening a ticket from your client area is faster, because we can verify your identity automatically.
