What comes with every domain

Things some registrars charge 2x extra for, or bury three menus deep.

WHOIS privacy

Your name, address, phone number and email are replaced in the public WHOIS record with forwarding details, so registering a domain doesn't put your home address on a database anyone can query. Available on extensions that permit it and some country registries, including .ng, publish certain fields by policy.

Full DNS control

Add and edit A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and SRV records yourself, whenever you need to. Verifying a Google Workspace account or pointing a subdomain at another host takes two minutes, not a support ticket.

Registrar lock

Domains are locked against transfer by default, so nobody can move your name away without first unlocking it from your account. Unlock it yourself the moment you genuinely want to transfer out.

Auto-renewal

Turn it on and stop worrying. Renewal notices go out well before expiry either way, and we don't quietly let names lapse so they can be resold.

Forwarding

Point a domain at another address, or forward email from it, without needing to host a full site. Useful for names you've bought to protect a brand.

One dashboard

Domains sit alongside your hosting, billing and support in the same client area. No second login, no separate invoice to forget about.

Already own the name? Move it here

Transferring a domain to LucentHost adds a year to your existing registration, so you don't lose the time you've already paid for. Your site and email keep running throughout as a transfer only changes who manages the name, not where it points.

  • Unlock it at your current registrar

Find the registrar lock setting and switch it off. Also make sure the WHOIS email on the domain is one you can actually receive mail at.

  • Get the EPP code

Sometimes called an authorisation or transfer code. Your current registrar must provide it on request.

  • Start the transfer with us

Enter the domain and the EPP code, pay for the transfer year, and approve the confirmation email.

  • Wait for the registry

Most transfers complete within five to seven days. That window is set by registry rules, not by us.

Domain questions

You do. You're listed as the registrant and you can transfer the name away whenever you like. We're the registrar handling it on your behalf, not the owner.
Some registries discount the first year to encourage new registrations, particularly newer extensions like .online and .store. We show you the renewal price in the table above so you can see the real long-term cost before you buy, rather than finding out twelve months later.
The domain enters a grace period during which you can still renew at the normal price. After that it moves into a redemption period where recovery costs significantly more, set by the registry rather than by us. Eventually it's released and anyone can register it. Turn on auto-renewal and none of this applies.
Yes. Point the nameservers at whoever hosts your site. You get full DNS control regardless of where the site itself lives.
It depends on registry policy rather than on us. Extensions where privacy is available are marked in the pricing table above. Some country-code registries require certain registrant details to remain public, and no registrar can override that.
No. Domain registrations, transfers and renewals are excluded from our money-back guarantee, because the registry fee is charged the moment a domain is registered and cannot be reversed. This is standard across the industry.
